Transportation Cabinet Awards Bid for Improvement Project on Perry County Road

JACKSON, KY – (Jan. 11, 2005) – As part of Governor Ernie Fletcher and Secretary Maxwell Clay Bailey’s vision of providing a safe and reliable transportation system to all Kentuckians, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has awarded a bid for one Perry County highway improvement project.

The deck of the bridge on KY 451, Old Hazard-Whitesburg Road, crossing the North Fork of the Kentucky River at mile marker 0.01 will be restored and waterproofed. This bridge is located just north of the intersection of KY 15 and KY 451. In this project, the open metal grate bridge deck will be replaced.

Judy C. Harp Co., Inc. will perform the work at a total cost of $199,452.72. The work is expected to be complete by Nov. 15, 2005

"This project is part of the ongoing commitment by the Fletcher administration to provide a safe network of roads for Kentucky motorists," said Linda Wagner-Justice, acting chief district engineer for the Department of Highways, District 10. "We are pleased to make this improvement for the benefit of drivers in Perry County."
