JACKSON, KY – (July 26, 2005) -- In order to replace culverts, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Department of Highways will close two state-maintained routes in Morgan County on two days next week. These closures will affect KY 191 and KY 3345.

On Monday, Aug. 1, KY 191 will be closed at milepoint 14.115. This is located just south of the route’s intersection with US 460. Motorists may detour by using US 460 and KY 205.

On Tuesday, Aug. 2, KY 3345 will be closed at milepoint 0.114. This is located just east of the route’s intersection with KY 772. Motorists may detour by using KY 772 and KY 705.

Both closures will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., weather permitting.

"We apologize for the inconvenience," said Linda Wagner-Justice, chief district engineer, "but it’s necessary to close the roads to remove the old drainage structures and replace them with new ones. We want to get these projects done before school starts to lessen the impact on traffic."

In case of inclement weather, the culvert replacement projects will be postponed.

These road closures were originally scheduled for last month, but were delayed when the remnants of Hurricane Dennis came through Kentucky.
