JACKSON, KY. – (Jan. 12, 2006) -- The Kentucky Department of Highways will close KY 77 in Powell County near the Red River bridge, just south of the Menifee County line, on Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 24-25. This closure is necessary to repair an embankment failure and break in pavement. Steel will be driven at this location to stabilize the break. The size of the drilling equipment to be used, coupled with the narrow width of the road in this location, make it impractical to maintain traffic while repairs are ongoing.

No marked detour will be posted. Suggested alternative routes include KY 15 and KY 715 through Pine Ridge, or KY 15, KY 613 and Forest Service Route 23 through Bowen.

In case of inclement weather, the work and road closure will be postponed.
