JACKSON, KY – (May 10, 2006) -- The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will reopen KY 1096, Avawam-Fourseam Road, in Perry County at 8 a.m. on Monday, May 15. This road has been barricaded since January 2005 for reconstruction due to a major embankment failure between mile markers 5 and 6. It was officially closed to traffic several years ago, but had not been barricaded until repairs began last year.

Although the road will reopen Monday, repairs are not complete. The reconstructed portion of highway is not yet paved, so construction activities will be ongoing for the next few weeks.

Motorists should "Drive Smart" in the area and be on the lookout for flaggers, workers, equipment and traffic control devices while the work continues.
