| JACKSON, KY – (April 21, 2005) -- Kentucky Transportation Cabinet personnel will be conducting an in-depth inspection of the bridge carrying KY 52 across the Kentucky River in Irvine on Monday, April 25. One lane of the bridge will be closed at a time, resulting in probable traffic backups. This is a regularly scheduled routine inspection, done as part of the Cabinet’s ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of all state-maintained bridges in the Commonwealth.
The work will begin at approximately 9:30 a.m., weather permitting, and should take one day to complete. Local traffic in Irvine will be impacted, as well as traffic from Beattyville and Booneville to Richmond and vice versa.
KYTC flaggers and law enforcement personnel will be on hand to assist in traffic control, and several traffic lights on both sides of the bridge will be set to flash during the inspection.
Motorists are urged to use the Joseph Proctor Bypass and the Kentucky River bridge on KY 499 as an alternate route during this period. KY 499 connects KY 89 (Winchester Road) north of Irvine to KY 52 (Richmond Road) west of Irvine.
