Department of Highways, District 10
Month-long bridge repair project on Mountain Parkway begins Wednesday, Oct. 6
JACKSON, KY – A bridge repair project scheduled to begin Wednesday, Oct. 6 on the Bert T. Combs Mountain Parkway in Magoffin County will result in one-lane traffic and possible delays for motorists using this main eastern Kentucky highway artery.
Temporary signals will control traffic at the Mountain Parkway’s span crossing Cow Creek near mile marker 67. This bridge is located just east of the Mountain Parkway’s intersection with KY 134. This temporary signal will be in place for approximately four weeks as work on a bridge deck overlay project proceeds.
During the work, the route will be restricted to vehicles less than 12 feet wide. Vehicles wider than 12 feet will need to find an alternate route around the project.
Drivers should slow down as they approach this construction zone and obey the temporary traffic signal. Motorists are asked to “Drive Smart” in this and all other work zones and be aware of workers, traffic control devices and construction equipment when traveling in this and other areas where projects are ongoing.
