Bridge work to cause delays on Mountain Parkway in Wolfe County
JACKSON, KY – Beginning Tuesday, March 10 and continuing until Thursday, March 12, motorists using the Mountain Parkway in Wolfe County can expect delays as crews place beams for the new bridge carrying traffic from KY 15 northbound to the Mountain Parkway westbound at Exit 43.
The road will be closed periodically as the beams are set. Plans are for the road to reopen after each beam is placed to allow traffic to pass, before being closed again to allow another beam to be placed.
The bridge construction is part of an ongoing project to widen the Mountain Parkway to four lanes between Exit 43 and Exit 46. A new bridge is being constructed to carry traffic from northbound KY 15 to the westbound Mountain Parkway, and the existing bridge will be demolished. A new ramp will be built to move traffic from northbound KY 15 to the eastbound Mountain Parkway.
During the closures, traffic can detour through Campton if desired. Eastbound traffic can leave the Mountain Parkway at Exit 43 and follow Spur KY 15 south and KY 191 east, and return at Exit 46. Westbound traffic can use Exit 46 and follow KY 191 west and Spur KY 15 north to re-enter the parkway at Exit 43.
