Blasting to cause delays on Mountain Parkway in Wolfe County
JACKSON, KY – Beginning Monday, Jan. 19, motorists using the Mountain Parkway in Wolfe County can expect delays for blasting near the bridge crossing Swift Camp Creek and Bear Branch Road. The blasting area is located at milepoint 43.7, in the vicinity of Campton Lake.
Periods of blasting will take place intermittently for several days, weather permitting, beginning Monday. The road will be closed during blasting operations and traffic in both directions will be stopped. Bear Branch Road is already closed due to the construction.
The blasting is part of an ongoing project to widen the Mountain Parkway to four lanes between Exit 43 and Exit 46. Specifically, the blasting is for piers for a new bridge to be constructed for Mountain Parkway traffic. The existing bridge will then be demolished and a new one will be built to replace it, enabling four-lane traffic when the project is completed.
During the blasting closures, traffic can detour through Campton if desired. Eastbound traffic can leave the Mountain Parkway at Exit 43 and follow Spur KY 15 south and KY 191 east, and return at Exit 46. Westbound traffic can use Exit 46 and follow KY 191 west and Spur KY 15 north to re-enter the parkway at Exit 43.
