Work to begin Monday on KY 11/KY 52 North Fork bridge repairs in Beattyville
JACKSON, KY – Work will begin Monday, Aug. 4, on a project to replace the deck and make repairs to the bridge carrying KY 11 and KY 52 over the North Fork of the Kentucky River in Beattyville.
During this project, traffic will be reduced to one lane on the bridge and will be controlled by signals 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The section of River Drive between Lumber Street and KY 11 (the stretch in front of the Beattyville Police Department) will be closed to through traffic. No exit to or entrance from KY 11 will be permitted. In addition, no right turn on red will be permitted for westbound KY 52 traffic wishing to cross the bridge to downtown Beattyville.
Traffic exiting Beattyville Elementary School from the drive adjacent to the bridge will be controlled by flaggers during peak school traffic hours.
Motorists should expect long delays in this area during the project and should plan their trips accordingly.
The bridge repair project will cost nearly $550,000. The contractor has 30 working days to complete the project starting Monday. Working days do not include days when the weather is inclement, or when other factors beyond the contractor’s control preclude work on the project. All work must be completed by Nov. 15.
Construction activities are scheduled on a tentative basis and are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to "Drive Smart" in work zones and be aware of workers, traffic control devices and construction equipment when traveling in areas where projects are ongoing.
