Powell County, area residents invited to attend public meeting on improvements to Mountain Parkway Exit 18
JACKSON, KY – (Dec. 4, 2007) -- Residents of Powell and nearby counties are invited to attend a public informational meeting to discuss a project to add an eastbound exit ramp and a westbound entrance ramp to the partial interchange at Exit 18 on the Bert T. Combs Mountain Parkway at Clay City.
The meeting will be held Thursday, Dec. 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Clay City Elementary School, 4901 Main Street, Clay City.
The public meeting will be in an informal, open house-type format. It will begin with a brief presentation at 5 p.m., followed by an open exhibit area where officials from the Transportation Cabinet and the project consultants will be available to answer questions and receive public input. Informational handouts, comment sheets and displays will be available to attendees. There will also be a 15-day public comment period after the meeting, and exhibits will be available at the Department of Highways District 10 office in Jackson.
This proposed project will convert the partial interchange at KY 1057 (Hardwicks Creek Road) and the Mountain Parkway to a full interchange. Currently, traffic can only enter the Mountain Parkway eastbound going toward Stanton, and only westbound traffic going toward Winchester can exit onto KY 1057. Upon completion, full access will be available for all directions of travel.
