JACKSON, KY – (Sept. 28, 2007) – Motorists traveling KY 15 through Knott County between Hazard and Whitesburg should be prepared for delays in the vicinity of Carr Fork Lake, as work continues on a $4.6 million bridge maintenance and repair project in Knott, Perry and Breathitt counties.

For approximately the next six weeks, traffic will be reduced to one lane and controlled by temporary traffic signals at the bridge carrying KY 15 across Carr Fork Lake at milepoint 5.63 in Knott County.

Motorists should also be alert to construction activities taking place at the KY 15 bridge at milepoint 4.04, near the KY 160 intersection.

These bridges are two of 11 along the KY 15 corridor scheduled for painting and minor repairs between now and Aug. 31, 2008. The contract for the repairs was awarded earlier this year.

Construction activities are scheduled on a tentative basis and are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to "Drive Smart" in work zones and be aware of workers, traffic control devices and construction equipment when traveling in areas where projects are ongoing.
