ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE: Ramp to Eastbound Mountain Parkway at Exit 16 to be Closed for Repairs Sept. 17-19
JACKSON, KY – (Sept. 11, 2007) – In order to complete the resurfacing project on the Mountain Parkway in Powell County, contractors working for the Kentucky Department of Highways will close the ramp from KY 15 and KY 82 to the eastbound Mountain Parkway at Exit 16 at Clay City for three days beginning Monday, Sept. 17.
This closure will affect traffic using the Mountain Parkway to travel from the Irvine/Estill County area to Stanton. It will also affect traffic using KY 11, KY 15 and the Mountain Parkway to travel south from the Mt. Sterling area to Stanton and points east.
The closure will begin at approximately 9 a.m. on Sept. 17 and will run through at least mid-afternoon on Sept. 19. During this closure, workers will replace the old concrete surface on the ramp with a new asphalt surface.
Entrance ramp traffic will be detoured south on KY 15 through Clay City. Motorists wishing to enter the Mountain Parkway eastbound can either use KY 1057 and enter the parkway at Exit 18, or continue on to Stanton and use KY 213 to enter the parkway at Exit 22.
Through traffic on the Mountain Parkway will not be affected, nor will the other three entrance and exit ramps at Exit 16. Only the ramp from KY 15 and KY 82 to the Mountain Parkway’s eastbound lanes will be affected.
Electronic message signs will be used to inform motorists of the traffic impact.
