Governor Fletcher, Transportation Cabinet Officials Award $213,000 Resurfacing Contract in Menifee County
JACKSON, Ky. – (Aug. 23, 2007) – The awarding of a $213,000 resurfacing contract in Menifee County is yet another example of the commitment of Governor Ernie Fletcher and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to provide a safe and reliable transportation system in the Bluegrass State.
“Our administration is committed to upgrading and improving highways used by Menifee County residents as well as everyone in this state,” Governor Fletcher said.
The contract is for resurfacing of 4.05 miles of KY 3340, Slate Creek Road, from the intersection of KY 713 extending north to the Bath County line.
The Walker Company of Kentucky, Inc., was awarded the low-bid contract for $213,115.30. The project is scheduled to be completed by Nov. 30.
“Governor Fletcher has instructed us to make sure our highways are safe and in good repair, and conducive to promoting economic activity,” Transportation Cabinet Secretary Bill Nighbert said. “These are our primary concerns as we maintain and improve our highway system. Good roads and bridges are an important part of our infrastructure and are a vital component in the quality of life we hope to provide to all Kentuckians. Our state is fortunate to have a governor who is committed to highway safety and making improvements that have many benefits.”
Construction activities are scheduled on a tentative basis and are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to “Drive Smart” in work zones and be aware of workers, traffic control devices and construction equipment when traveling in areas where projects are ongoing.
