JACKSON, Ky. – (June 8, 2007) – In keeping with their goal to provide a safe and reliable transportation system, Governor Ernie Fletcher and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet have awarded a $85,090 road construction contract in Breathitt County.
The contract is for resurfacing 1.12 miles of KY 3231, Lakeside Drive, in the city of Jackson.
“My administration is committed to providing smooth, safe highways for Kentuckians,” Governor Fletcher said. “This project to improve travel conditions on this busy route which serves a large residential section of Jackson is proof of our commitment.”
Hinkle Contracting Corporation was awarded the low-bid contract for $85,090.75. The scheduled completion date is Nov. 30.
“The Fletcher administration continues to make road improvements a priority,” Transportation Cabinet Secretary Bill Nighbert said. “Good roads mean safer roads for Kentucky drivers. Improving driver safety and strengthening our state’s vital infrastructure are top priorities for Governor Fletcher as he fulfills his promises to Kentuckians.”
Construction activities are scheduled on a tentative basis and are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to “Drive Smart” in work zones and be aware of workers, traffic control devices and construction equipment when traveling in areas where projects are ongoing.
