Court Facilities Standards Committee to review judicial center projects for Carlisle and Wolfe counties
Who: The Court Facilities Standards Committee is a 10-member body comprised of representatives from the Kentucky Executive, Judicial and Legislative branches of government and a county official appointed by the governor. The committee reviews design plans, cost estimates and financing proposals for new court facilities statewide. State Sen. Robert Stivers and State Sen.-Elect Kathy Stein co-chair the 10-member committee, which includes Chief Justice of Kentucky John D. Minton Jr. and Administrative Office of the Courts Director Jason Nemes.
The Court Facilities Standards Committee operates under the auspices of the AOC in Frankfort, which is the operational arm of the Kentucky Court of Justice. The AOC Department of Facilities oversees court facility construction, renovation and maintenance throughout the commonwealth.
What: The committee will be discussing new judicial center projects for Carlisle and Wolfe counties. Carlisle County was among the five judicial center projects authorized by the 2008 General Assembly, but it received emergency funding in the current 2008-2010 biennium. The Carlisle County Courthouse in Bardwell was destroyed by fire in December 2007. Wolfe County was among the 17 judicial center projects authorized by the 2006 General Assembly and was funded by the 2008 General Assembly. Original project plans:
Carlisle County – 36,000-square-foot judicial center with an estimated total project cost of $12.9 million
Wolfe County – 33,500-square-foot judicial center with an estimated total project cost of $11.4 million

From Louisville Take I-64 East to Frankfort’s second exit, Exit 58. Turn right off the exit onto U.S. 60 (Versailles Road) and then turn right at the first traffic light onto Highway 1681 (there is no road sign). Proceed for about one-half mile around a slight curve, passing three houses on the right. After the third house, turn right into Millcreek Park. The visitor reception area for the Administrative Office of the Courts is in the middle of the second building on the right.
From Lexington Take I-64 West to Frankfort’s first exit, Exit 58. Turn left off the exit onto U.S. 60 (Versailles Road) and go through one traffic light. From Western Kentucky Connect with Bluegrass Parkway East toward Bardstown. Take the U.S. 127 exit, Exit 59, toward Harrodsburg/ Lawrenceburg. Turn right onto U.S. 127 North / KY 513 West. Continue to follow U.S. 127 North. Merge onto I-64 East toward Lexington. Take Frankfort’s second exit, Exit 58.
