FRANKFORT, Ky. -- The Court Facilities Standards Committee will meet to discuss the judicial center project planned for Franklin County at 2 p.m. EDT Thursday, Oct. 22, at the Capitol in Frankfort. The meeting will take place in room 327 of the Capitol, which is located at 700 Capitol Ave.

The meeting is open to the public.

The original project plan is for a 101,200-square-foot judicial center with an estimated total project cost of $29 million. The Franklin County project was among the 17 judicial center projects authorized by the 2006 General Assembly.

The CFSC is a 10-member body comprised of representatives from the Kentucky Executive, Judicial and Legislative branches of government and a county official appointed by the governor. The committee reviews design plans, cost estimates and financing proposals for new court facilities statewide. State Sen. Robert Stivers chairs the 10-member committee, which includes Chief Justice of Kentucky John D. Minton Jr., AOC Director Laurie Dudgeon and Rep. John Tilley.

The committee operates under the auspices of the AOC, which is the operational arm of the Kentucky Court of Justice. The AOC Office of Budget and Policy, Division of Capital Construction, oversees court facility construction throughout the commonwealth.
