Statement from Kentucky Court of Appeals Judge Sara Walter Combs

It has been my privilege and honor to serve on the Court of Appeals as its Chief Judge for the past 6 years. Today, it is with both joy and some measure of nostalgia that I announce that I am relinquishing the position of Chief Judge effective immediately.

At heart, I have been reluctant to step aside, but I have made this decision following a great deal of thought. I believe that it is the correct decision at this particular time. It is my desire and intent to devote more of my time to the essential work of the Court rather than its demanding and time-consuming administration. I have endeavored to make decisions that are sound, effective, and in the best interest of the Court as a whole. 

I look forward to being able to spend more of my time maintaining a close association with the people of my district and furthering my efforts in preserving the memory of my distinguished and beloved late husband, Bert Combs.
