Kentucky Arts Council Provides Fee Support for Performing Arts

FRANKFORT, Ky. The Kentucky Arts Council has awarded fee support through Performing Arts on Tour grants to eight non-profit performing arts presenting organizations. These grants will help make diverse performing arts events available to Kentuckians across the commonwealth. The grants have been awarded for performances in libraries, performing arts centers, festivals and hospitals by individual artists, ensembles, orchestras and ballet companies included in the Kentucky Arts Council's Performing Arts Directory.

 

"This program helps performing artists and performing arts companies get bookings and helps venues bring quality performing arts events to their communities" says Lori Meadows, executive director of the Kentucky Arts Council. "We are very happy to see so libraries becoming involved. They not only bring entertainment, but also provide context for the various performing arts genres and traditions."

Prior to Kentucky On Stage, the Kentucky Arts Council's annual showcase of performing artists, there will be a special Performing Arts on Tour grant writing workshop for interested presenters from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. E.S.T., August 19, 2009 at the Falling Springs Recreation Center, 275 Beasley Drive, Versailles, Ky.  The workshop is free however registration is required.  To register, go to www.artscouncil.ky.gov/KOS/KOS09.htm.
