Kentucky Crafted Artists Exhibit at Winterfair
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Six artists that have been accepted into the Kentucky Crafted® program of the Kentucky Arts Council will be guest exhibitors at Winterfair produced by Ohio Designer Craftsmen. Celebrating its 30th year, the retail fair of fine art and fine craft welcomes shoppers to the Northern Kentucky Convention Center in Covington, November 28-30, 2008.
Participating art businesses are: May Tagher, MAYcreations, Walton; Michael Maydak, Comrade Comics, Covington; Mary Noelker, Mary Noelker Lampwork Beads, Danville; David Shadwick, Pod's Forge, Wilmore; James T. Williams, Anew Backyard, Elizabethtown and John Haywood, Haywood Art, Litt Car.
This reciprocal agreement between Kentucky Crafted:The Market and Winterfair allows Kentucky Crafted® artists access to this great pre-holiday market and allows Ohio Designer Craftsmen artists an opportunity to be represented at Kentucky Crafted:The Market, produced by the Kentucky Arts Council.
"This is a win-win situation for artists and shoppers alike," says Chris Cathers, program branch manager for the Kentucky Arts Council. "Shoppers have more artists to choose from and artists have the opportunity to increase their marketing reach."
Kentucky Crafted® is a program of the Kentucky Arts Council that enables Kentucky artists and craftspeople to reach regional, national and international markets through state-sponsored wholesale and retail promotional venues. Acceptance into the program is based on artistic excellence in design and technique, originality or authenticity (for traditional work), and marketability. There are currently 510 juried visual and craft artists in the Kentucky Crafted® program.
Kentucky Crafted: The Market is an annual wholesale/retail marketplace featuring exhibitors of traditional and contemporary fine art and craft along with Kentucky related books, musical recordings, film and Kentucky Proud® specialty food products. The next market will be held at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, February 21-22, 2009.
The Kentucky Arts Council is a state agency in the Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet that creates opportunities for Kentuckians to value, participate in and benefit from the arts. Kentucky Arts Council funding is provided by the Kentucky General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes that a great nation deserves great art.
