FRANKFORT, Ky. — Kentucky visual artist Eva King, of Murray, has been selected as the Kentucky Arts Council’s featured artist for August.

King, who studied art at Murray State University, uses cut paper to create visual compositions of family, community and rituals of daily life. Inspired by bright motifs and other paper artists, King uses different colors and patterns to depict rural life in compositions with a primitive or folk art feel.

To learn more about King, visit the arts council’s website at artscouncil.ky.gov. The feature page includes:

  • A story about King's work.
  • A video of King discussing her work.
  • Contact information for the artist.

The Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, fosters environments for Kentuckians to value, participate in and benefit from the arts. Kentucky Arts Council funding is provided by the Kentucky General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts.
