‘Kentucky Visions at the Capitol’ exhibit on display

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Works by 28 artists from across the Commonwealth are on display in hallways and conference rooms of the Kentucky Senate and House offices in the Capitol Annex in Frankfort Jan. 8 - March 26 as the Kentucky Arts Council presents “Kentucky Visions at the Capitol,” an annual exhibit.
Artists invited to participate are adjudicated members of the Kentucky Arts Council's Kentucky Crafted program or are recipients of an Al Smith Individual Artist Fellowship Award or Governor's Award in the Arts. The exhibit, open to the public, coincides each year with the Kentucky General Assembly’s legislative session.
“‘Kentucky Visions at the Capitol’ is an excellent opportunity for legislators and the general public to learn more about the artists who live and work in Kentucky, and who are often inspired to create because of their connection to the Commonwealth,” said Lori Meadows, arts council executive director. “The majority of the artwork is for sale and, traditionally, participating artists are very successful because of this exhibit.”
The 64 pieces of artwork on display during this legislative session include paintings, mixed-media works, photographs, ceramics and fiber arts. “Kentucky Visions at the Capitol” is one of many promotional opportunities available to Kentucky artists through the arts council’s artist programs.
