Kentucky Arts Council Promotes Performing Artists at Kentucky on Stage Showcase

FRANKFORT, Ky. Performing artists and ensembles featured in the Kentucky Arts Council's "Performing Arts Directory" will demonstrate their talents at the eleventh annual Kentucky on Stage. The showcase and booking conference for presenters will feature music, dance, theatre and storytelling from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. E.D.T., Wednesday, August 19, 2009, at the Falling Springs Recreational Center Theater, 275 Beasley Drive, Versailles, Ky.

 

Kentucky on Stage is open to a wide range of presenters, including those that book for performing arts venues, corporate event planners, festival organizers, library program planners, community organizations and college and university student activity boards, Main Street and Renaissance program directors, and local, state and national park site activities directors.

 

There is a $25 registration fee for presenters, which includes lunch and access to artists for booking purposes. 

 

Prior to Kentucky on Stage, there will be a special Performing Arts on Tour grant writing workshop for interested presenters from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. The workshop is free however registration is required.

Primarily an opportunity for performing arts presenters to review artists featured in the "Performing Arts Directory," the public is also welcome to attend as audience members for any or all of the showcases.

 

Kentucky artists are selected for the "Performing Arts Directory" based on artistic excellence, performance experience and marketing capacity, as judged by an independent panel of performing arts professionals. There are currently 111 individual artists or groups participating in the Performing Arts Directory program.  For a complete listing of performing artists on the directory, including contact information and sample clips, go to http://artistdirectory.ky.gov.
