Kentucky Arts Council announces awards for Kentucky Crafted: The Market
FRANKFORT, Ky. — The high quality of exhibitors and attending retailers contributed to the success of Kentucky Crafted: The Market, held March 17 – 20, 2011, at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Ky. The state-sponsored wholesale/retail trade show, annually presented by the Kentucky Arts Council, encompasses art, craft, artisan foods, literature, performing arts, folklife and community arts.
Each year participating exhibitors nominate top retailers based on sales, professionalism and promotion of the Kentucky Crafted brand. The businesses with the most votes are awarded $250 for advertising or promotion of Kentucky Crafted products within their business. The 2011 winners are:

Awards given to exhibitors encourage excellence in product development and booth display. Award winners will receive discounted booth fees for Kentucky Crafted: The Market 2012. Sherry Masters, general manager and buyer for Grovewood Gallery, Asheville, N.C., served as booth judge for the Kentucky Arts Council. The 2011 award winners are:

The accessibility award is designed to raise accessibility awareness among artists exhibiting in a fair or festival environment. Martha Newman, director, Access Services, Kentucky Center, and Mary Claire O’Neil, program director, VSA Kentucky, served as judges. The Kentucky Arts Council chose a mixed-media painting by Gretchen Papka of WoodnMoon Art Studios in Versailles, Ky., for the annual purchase award.
Kentucky Crafted: The Market, an economic generator for Kentucky, is produced by the Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency that creates opportunities for Kentuckians to value, participate in and benefit from the arts. Kentucky Arts Council funding is provided by the Kentucky General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts.
