Kentucky Arts Council Supports 89 Organizations through Kentucky Arts Partnership Grants
FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Kentucky Arts Council has awarded $1,839,403 to 89 Kentucky arts and cultural organizations for FY2009, through the newly structured Kentucky Arts Partnership Grant Program. Kentucky Arts Partnership Grants provide competitive operational support for organizations to program arts activities and services that provide opportunities for Kentuckians to participate in and benefit from the arts.
The Kentucky Arts Partnership Grant Program, created to achieve equitable funding among competing arts organizations, replaces the Challenge Grant and General Operating Support programs. FY2008 funding for the two programs was $1,974,944, distributed among 84 qualified grantees.
“We are very pleased to be able to continue to support so many arts organizations from every region in the state, in view of these tight budgetary times,” said Lori Meadows, executive director of the Kentucky Arts Council. “The Kentucky Arts Partnership Grant awards are tangible investments in building vibrant communities throughout the commonwealth.”
The Kentucky Arts Council is a state agency in the Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet that creates opportunities for Kentuckians to value, participate in and benefit from the arts. Kentucky Arts Council funding is provided by the Kentucky State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes that a great nation deserves great art.
