FRANKFORT, Ky. — The Kentucky Arts Council will present a series of workshops – with topics relevant to performing artists, visual artists, teaching artists and arts educators – Jan. 25-26, 2011, at the Hazard Community and Technical College, 1 Community College Drive, Hazard, Ky. Over the two days, 18 sessions will be presented; some will be repeated at different time slots to accommodate potential participants’ schedules.

Topics include applying to Kentucky Arts Council programs, choosing work samples for juried exhibitions, producing effective marketing materials, creating arts lesson plans across the curriculum and using art in the classroom to build 21st-century skills. A special networking session will give people with an interest in the arts an opportunity to share information about projects, events and resources in eastern Kentucky communities.

For a complete schedule of workshops and their descriptions, go to http://bit.ly/KACWkshpHazard.

All workshops are free and open to the public. Pre-registration is appreciated. For more information or to sign up for specific workshops, contact Sarah.Schmitt@ky.gov or 888-833-2787, ext. 492.
