FRANKFORT, KY — Visitors to the Capitol on Derby Day morning will have an opportunity to purchase some of Kentucky’s finest traditional and contemporary craft and art at the Governor’s Derby Celebration.

Artists who have been accepted into the Kentucky Arts Council's Kentucky Crafted program will offer gourd art, jewelry, photographs, paintings, basketry, bath and beauty products, woodwork and much more.

The Governor’s Derby Celebration will be on the state Capitol grounds from 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, May 1, 2010, and is open to the public. This year's celebration offers plenty of color, excitement, entertainment, children's activities and, of course, food. There will be a nominal charge for the food ($1 per item), but there will be plenty of free fun for the entire family. For more information, go to www.governor.ky.gov/derbycelebration.

The Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, creates opportunities for Kentuckians to value, participate in and benefit from the arts. Kentucky Arts Council funding is provided by the Kentucky General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts.
