Fine Kentucky craft and art offered at Governor’s Derby Celebration in Frankfort
FRANKFORT, Ky. — Visitors to downtown Frankfort on Derby Day morning will have an opportunity to purchase some of Kentucky’s finest traditional and contemporary craft and art at the Governor’s Derby Celebration.
Artists who have been accepted into the Kentucky Arts Council's Kentucky Crafted Program will offer jewelry, mixed media artwork, paintings, basketry, pottery, woodwork and much more.
Kentucky Crafted at the Governor’s Derby Celebration will be open for business from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 7, 2011, on the grounds of the Old State Capitol, Broadway Street, Frankfort, Ky.
The 2011 Derby Celebration offers plenty of color, excitement, entertainment, children’s activities and food to suit all tastes. In addition to several downtown restaurants that will be open and offering special Derby morning fare, the Kentucky Pork Producers and the Kentucky Cattlemen’s Association will be on hand cooking their Kentucky Proud specialties over an open fire. For more information, go to www.governor.ky.gov/derbycelebration.
The Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, creates opportunities for Kentuckians to value, participate in and benefit from the arts. Kentucky Arts Council funding is provided by the Kentucky General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts.
