FRANKFORT, Ky. — Twenty-seven artists from across the Commonwealth will have work included in the 2014 installment of the Governor's Derby Exhibit coordinated by the Kentucky Arts Council, part of the annual Governor's Derby Celebration in the capital city.

The exhibit will open to the public March 31 and remain on view until May 5 in the Capitol Rotunda, 700 Capital Ave. The building is open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Rotunda will also be open Saturday, May 3, during the Derby Celebration for visitors to view the artwork.

"The arts council is proud to coordinate the Governor's Derby Exhibit each year on behalf of the Governor and First Lady as part of the Derby festivities," said Lori Meadows, arts council executive director. "This exhibit continues to serve as an introduction to working with the arts council for many of the state's artists and is a great opportunity to showcase the wealth of artistic talent that can be found in Kentucky."

Unlike other arts council exhibits open only to adjudicated program participants, any Kentucky visual artist 18 years old or older could submit work for consideration in the exhibit.
