Kentucky Arts Council Hosts Reception in Morehead
FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Kentucky Arts Council welcomes artists, representatives from arts organizations, educators and community leaders from Morehead and nearby communities to a reception at 3:00 p.m. (EDT), Thursday, June 19, 2008 at the Kentucky Folk Art Center, 102 West First Street, Morehead, Ky. The reception follows the quarterly meeting of the governing board of directors of the Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency.
As the arts are a vital part of economic development, tourism and the creation of a better quality of life in communities across the commonwealth, the Kentucky Arts Council board and staff welcome the opportunity to hear about the successes and future opportunities for the arts in Morehead and the region. The reception, which is free and open to the public, will also introduce the Kentucky Arts Council to those that may not be familiar with the work of the agency.
The Kentucky Arts Council is a state agency in the Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet that creates opportunities for Kentuckians to value, participate in and benefit from the arts. Kentucky Arts Council funding is provided by the Kentucky State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes that a great nation deserves great art.
