Kentucky Arts Council to Meet in Lexington

FRANKFORT, Ky. The Kentucky Arts Council welcomes artists, representatives from arts organizations, educators and community leaders from Lexington and the surrounding area for an afternoon reception at 3:00 p.m. E.D.T., Friday, September 18, 2009, at the Miller House, 832 Lochmere Place at The Enclave at Andover Estates on Chilesburg Road, Lexington, Ky.   The reception follows the quarterly meeting of the governing board of directors of the Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency.

 

The Kentucky Arts Council board and staff welcome the opportunity to hear about economic and tourism development, arts education and opportunities for participation in the arts in the central Kentucky region.  The reception, which is free and open to the public, will also introduce the Kentucky Arts Council to those that may not be familiar with the work of the agency.

 

The Kentucky Arts Council will hold its regular quarterly meeting at 12:00 p.m. in the Miller House, which is also open to the public.

 

Kentucky Arts Council board members are Todd P. Lowe, Chair, Louisville; Everett D. McCorvey, Vice-Chair, Lexington; Sonya Baker, Murray; Wilma Brown, Danville; Zev Buffman, Owensboro; Jean Dorton, Paintsville; Paul Fourshee, Cadiz; Ronald Johnson, Ft. Mitchell; H. Dean Jones II, Owensboro; Dr. Nicholas Kouns, Lexington; Ed Lane, Lexington; Gail Russell, Louisville; Ann Duggins Schell, Louisville; Randall C. Vaughn, Lexington; James R. Voyles, Louisville; and Jayne Moore Waldrop, Lexington.

 

The Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, creates opportunities for Kentuckians to value, participate in and benefit from the arts. Kentucky Arts Council funding is provided by the Kentucky General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts.
