FRANKFORT, Ky. – On behalf of Gov. Steve Beshear and First Lady Jane Beshear, the Kentucky Arts Council is coordinating the selection and installation of an exhibition of two-dimensional artwork to be on display in the Capitol Rotunda on Derby Day, May 2, 2009.

All Kentucky artists are invited to submit entries of original, two-dimensional work that has been completed within the past four years. While the work should focus on horse or spring themes, other works depicting or representing Kentucky will also be considered. Artists may elect to offer their work for sale.  No commission will be charged on any sales.

All submissions are by e-mail with digital images and the entry deadline is April 3, 2009.

For a prospectus, entry form and timeline please e-mail Rachel Rasnick at Rachel.Rasnick@ky.gov.

The Kentucky Arts Council is a state agency in the Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet that creates opportunities for Kentuckians to value, participate in and benefit from the arts. Kentucky Arts Council funding is provided by the Kentucky General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes that a great nation deserves great art.
