Kentucky Arts Council offers marketing programs for Kentucky artists
|
FRANKFORT, Ky. — The Kentucky Arts Council is accepting applications until March 15, 2012, from professional artists who wish to be included in the Performing Arts Directory, Architectural Artists Directory or Kentucky Crafted Program. These state-sponsored marketing programs help performing and visual artists promote their work and build their careers.
"These programs have been very successful in giving artists a boost in their bookings, commissions and sales," said Lori Meadows, executive director of the arts council. "When artists can make a meaningful contribution to Kentucky's economy, that's a good thing for the whole Commonwealth."
The Performing Arts Directory is for artists, companies or groups who perform in dance, music, storytelling or theater arts. Artists selected for the directory have opportunities to showcase for presenters and special performance opportunities, and are offered professional development to enhance their business, marketing and promotion skills. For more information, go to http://1.usa.gov/KAC_performing or contact Tamara Coffey at tamara.coffey@ky.gov or 502-564-3757, ext. 479.
The Architectural Artists Directory is for professional artists who create architectural art and custom-made fixtures for residential or commercial installations. It serves as a resource for homebuilders, architects, interior designers, landscape architects and private clients looking for artists who can create unique features for home, commercial and public spaces. For more information, go to http://1.usa.gov/KAC_architectural or contact Charla Reed at charla.reed@ky.gov or 502-564-3757, ext 485.
The Kentucky Crafted Program is for artists who create marketable high-quality art and craft products. Artists selected for the program receive business development and marketing support. They have the opportunity to exhibit at Kentucky Crafted: The Market, the Buyers Market of American Craft, the Kentucky Visions at the Capitol exhibit and the Governor's Derby Celebration. Other benefits include carrying the Kentucky Crafted brand and cooperative advertising opportunities. For more information, go to http://1.usa.gov/KAC_crafted or contact Chris Cathers at christopher.cathers@ky.gov or 502-564-3757, ext 488.
The Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, creates opportunities for Kentuckians to value, participate in and benefit from the arts. Kentucky Arts Council funding is provided by the Kentucky General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts.
