Kentucky Arts Council Partners with The Kentucky Center to Present Accessibility Workshops

Arts and cultural organizations will have the opportunity to learn about accessible programming and how to be successful at providing accommodations for valued arts participants. The Access – Providing Accessible Program Options! workshops will include information on meeting the needs of people who not only use mobility aids but who have difficulty speaking, hearing or seeing. The sessions will also give pointers on providing equal access for artists with disabilities, staff training and creating organizational plans to meet the Americans with Disabilities Act requirements.

 

The first offering of the workshop will be from 9 a.m.–12:30 p.m. EST, Monday, May 2 at The Center for Rural Development, Somerset, Ky.

 

The second will be from 9 a.m.–12:30 p.m. CST, Tuesday, May 3 at the Carson Four Rivers Center, Paducah, Ky.

 

The final opportunity to attend this workshop will be from 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. EST at the Carnegie Visual and Performing Arts Center, Covington, Ky.

The Kentucky Arts Council is a state agency in the Commerce Cabinet.  Working in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts, the Arts Council invests in programs that develop vibrant communities, provide lifelong education in the arts and support arts participation.  Every $1 in grant funds awarded by the Kentucky Arts Council helps grantees secure $15 in earned income and matching funds from individuals, philanthropic sources and other levels of government.
