Frankfort, Ky. – The Governor’s Office of Agricultural Policy (GOAP) will host the  2009 Annual Meeting: Energizing Kentucky Agriculture, which will be held Thursday, January 15 at the Lexington Convention Center in downtown Lexington.

This year’s event is a joint effort between the Kentucky Agricultural Development Board and the Kentucky Agricultural Finance Corporation.

“We are hosting this event to bring agricultural leaders and others together to exchange ideas and learn about opportunities created by the Kentucky Agricultural Development Fund and the Kentucky Agricultural Finance Corporation loan programs,” said Roger Thomas, GOAP Executive Director. “Policy and program changes for both boards will be addressed as well as issues related to leadership and community involvement.”

This year’s Annual Meeting will feature a keynote address from Chris Chinn, past chair of the American Farm Bureau Federation’s Young Farmer and Rancher Committee, who was also featured in this past October’s Progressive Farmer magazine.  Other event highlights include a tradeshow, Kentucky product samples, policy and program updates, and an Awards Luncheon recognizing those who have exemplified outstanding rural leadership and ingenuity in 2008.

The pre-registration deadline for the 2009 KADB/KAFC Annual Meeting is 4:30 p.m. Monday, December 22.  The cost of registration is $30 per person for those registering on or before December 22; after December 22 registration is $45 per person.

Those who wish to participate may mail, e-mail, or fax (502-564-8990) their registration form and mail their registration fee to the Governor's Office of Agricultural Policy to 404 Ann Street Frankfort, KY 40601.  Registration forms are available at agpolicy.ky.gov/annual_meeting or by calling (502) 564-4627.
