Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement Makes Late Night Drug Bust
A late-night drug bust in Fayette County has one suspect on the run.
It happened just before 11:30 last night at the on-ramp to I-75 and Winchester Road.
That's when Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement (KVE) Officer John White pulled over the driver the vehicle for wreckless driving.
Officer White was in the process of running a check of the suspect's driver’s license when the driver jumped out of the car and began running across a nearby field.
Upon searching the vehicle, officers found approximately 80 grams of coke, an AK-47 assault rifle, and some marijuana. The street value of the cocaine and marajuana is approximately $11,000.
Lexington police were called in to help KVE with the search.
They spent a better part of the early morning hours using canine units, trying to track down the suspect… but came up empty.
Right now, authorities have charged Jamar Hall and Brandon C. Mitchell with trafficking cocaine and marijuana.
Police have not released any details on the identity of the third suspect, but we're told they have that person's driver’s license.
