Maggie Moss Keynote Speaker at Women & Horses Seminar

LEXINGTON, KY (December 12, 2008)  The Kentucky Horse Park is pleased to present the second annual Women & Horses Seminar, Feb 21.  A number of successful business women will offer their expertise toward making equine businesses and organizations more profitable. 

The seminar presenters will include keynote speaker Maggie Moss (the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association’s “2006 Owner of the Year,” successful attorney in Des Moines, Iowa, and notable equine advocate who launched the Midwest Retirement Foundation for retired racehorses), Laura D’Angelo (attorney with Wyatt, Tarrant & Combs – specializes in equine law, pari-mutuel and gaming laws, and stallion syndications), Sandy Hatfield (stallion manager at Three Chimneys – home of Kentucky Derby winners Silver Charm, Smarty Jones and Big Brown), Sarah Lane (Senior Director Creative Communications for the United States Equestrian Federation), Colleen Pace and Becky McManus. 

John Nicholson, executive director of the park observed, “In these interesting economic times, many people in the horse community are looking for creative ways to keep their businesses operating and their horses fed, so the Kentucky Horse Park is pleased to make this seminar available to assist.

The fee is $75 (including lunch) if registered before Feb 11 (after Feb 11, the cost is still $75 but no lunch included).  Group rate (5 or more), $67.50.  A few vendor tables will be available for only $25.  Sponsorship opportunities are also available.

2008 is the 30th anniversary of the Kentucky Horse Park, a working horse farm/theme park and equine competition facility dedicated to man’s relationship with the horse.  The park is an agency of the Kentucky Commerce Cabinet that hosted nearly 920,000 visitors and campers, as well as 15,000 competition horses in more than 100 special events and horse shows in 2007.  The park is home to the National Horse Center which comprises more than 30 national and regional equine organizations.   Located at Exit 120, Interstate 75, just north of Lexington, the Kentucky Horse Park is The place to get close to horses.   Open daily March 15 to October 31, and Wednesday through Sunday, November 1 to March 14.
