LEXINGTON, KY (November 1, 2007) Lace up, head out, and help us turn on the lights. The Kentucky Horse Park invites you to help us set the holiday season in motion as you join us for the sixth annual Southern Lights Stroll, Thursday, Nov 15.


Imagine a twilight walk, set in the magnificent surroundings of the Kentucky Horse Park. Get set to run, walk or stroll your way through thousands of the dazzling lights.  John’s Run/Walk Shop and New Balance have donated their services to a competitive 5K race, complete with awards.  Additional activities include:  complimentary Mini Express Train rides, pony rides ($5), pictures with Santa ($5 to benefit the Rotary Club’s winter coat program), Red Hats and Purple Chaps on horseback, refreshments, drawings for prizes and more!


           A food drive for God’s Pantry will be held in conjunction with this event.  All participants are asked to bring non-perishable items to help the needy families and individuals of Central Kentucky. 


Walk-up registration begins at 5:30pm, 5k begins at 6:15pm, stroll begins at 6:30 at the Visitor Information Center.   $15 pre-registered by Nov 12, $20 day of event. First 500 registered receive a free souvenir t-shirt.   For more information, call 859-259-4280 or 259-4226.


Park Hours and Rates: From October 31-March 14, the park is open Wednesdays through Sundays.  Admission is $9 for adults, $6 for children 7-12.  Children six and under are always admitted free of charge.  Admission includes the International Museum of the Horse – a Smithsonian Affiliate - and the American Saddlebred Museum.




The Kentucky Horse Park is a working horse farm/theme park and equine competition facility dedicated to man’s relationship with the horse.  The park is an agency of the Kentucky Commerce Cabinet that hosted nearly 900,000 visitors and campers, as well as 15,000 competition horses in more than 100 special events and horse shows in 2006.  The park is home to the National Horse Center which comprises more than 30 national and regional equine organizations.   Located at Exit 120, Interstate 75, just north of Lexington, the Kentucky Horse Park is the place to get close to horses.   Open daily March 15 to October 31, and Wednesday through Sunday, November 1 to March 14.
