LEXINGTON, KY - Kids are the focus at the Kentucky Horse Park during the 7th Annual Kid’s Weekend, Saturday and Sunday, August 7 and 8. The weekend features a full schedule of exciting and educational activities in addition to all of the regular activities throughout the park.
New to this year’s event is the Babies R Us Back to School/End of Summer Fashion Show, which will be held on Saturday, August 7, at 10 am. Sponsored by Babies R Us, Kids R Us, Michael’s, and Lundy’s Special Event Company, babies and young children from the Lexington area will show off the latest fall fashions.
The 3rd Annual Kid’s Weekend Talent Contest will be held on Sunday, August 8, at 11 am. Prize packages will be awarded in each of the contests consisting of a trophy and guest appearances at future park events, as well as Family Memberships to the Kentucky Horse Park. The Kid’s Weekend Talent Competition is open to anyone ages 3-17, and registrations for the talent contest will still be accepted through August 2.
Kid’s will also have fun learning getting their faces painted, participating in a scavenger hunt, painting horseshoes, “racing” stick horses, or taking a ride on the Mini-Train Express. Pony rides and other “action” attractions are also available for an additional charge.
The fun will continue throughout the weekend with entertainment by Talia Kendrick, Jordan Leigh Young, The Rock Steady Cloggers, and the First Place winners from last year’s talent contest Roxanne Spangler Baker and Will Georgian. These entertainers will bring a unique flavor to Kid’s Weekend, as they are all kids themselves.
