MEDIA ALERT: Private Opening of New Interactive Kids Barn at Kentucky Horse Park
WHO: Kentucky Horse Park and several national and regional equine organizations
WHAT: Private opening of the park's new interactive Kids Barn which will open to the public the following day
WHEN: Wednesday, March 7, 11:30am
WHERE: Kentucky Horse Park Kids Barn (formerly the Draft Horse Barn behind the International Museum of the Horse)
WHY: Education is a large component of the Kentucky Horse Park's mission. The new Kids Barn will be the first attraction at the park designed exclusively for children and will offer interactive exhibits and hands-on learning experiences for children ages 13 and under. Each of the standing stalls in the barn will hold an interactive exhibit sponsored by an equine organization, business, or university, and daily hands-on activities with horses will be offered by the staff of the park's Education Department to allow children to discover more about horses and the reasons why Kentucky is considered the Horse Capital of the World.
Photo ops will include Russell Cave Elementary third graders at 11:45 trying the exhibits for the first time. Media availability with some of the organizations which have donated exhibits.
HOW: Members of the media may park in the main parking lot and go through the Visitor Center to the Kids Barn. Broadcast vehicles can get much closer. For directions call Cindy Rullman, 859-259-4209.
