            LEXINGTON, KY (May 22, 2008)  The Kentucky Horse Park is introducing a new event that the whole family will enjoy, without having to drive far or spend much money! The Family Fun Fest, June 6-8, will offer a variety of activities for parents and kids of all ages.


            Special activities during Family Fun Fest will include drawings for prizes, free trolley rides for kids ages 12 and under, coloring contest, clogging performance, child performers, Pony Tales (hands-on learning experiences with horses), horseshoe painting, stick horse making, adoptable pets, and much more.


            Also included will  be a Mare & Foal show introducing the park’s brand new, adorable babies, a special exhibition in the American Saddlebred Museum entitled “For the Love of a Horse: Children and Saddlebreds,” and another exhibition in the International Museum of the Horse celebrating the park’s 30th anniversary.  In addition, on the 6th and 7th, Family Fun Fest will include The Egyptian Event horse show featuring beautiful Egyptian Arabian horses, the Saluki Club of America National Specialty Dog Show, and the Red Hats and Purple Chaps special presentation during the Parade of Breeds.  Trail rides and pony rides will also be available for an additional fee.

Park Hours and Rates:  From March 15 through October 31, the park is open seven days a week.  Admission then is $15 for adults, $8 for children 7-12. Children six and under are always admitted free of charge.  Admission includes the International Museum of the Horse and the American Saddlebred Museum.




2008 is the 30th anniversary of the Kentucky Horse Park, a working horse farm/theme park and equine competition facility dedicated to man’s relationship with the horse.  The park is an agency of the Kentucky Commerce Cabinet that hosted nearly 920,000 visitors and campers, as well as 15,000 competition horses in more than 100 special events and horse shows in 2007.  The park is home to the National Horse Center which comprises more than 30 national and regional equine organizations.   Located at Exit 120, Interstate 75, just north of Lexington, the Kentucky Horse Park is The place to get close to horses.   Open daily March 15 to October 31, and Wednesday through Sunday, November 1 to March 14.
