THE PYRAMID SOCIETY CELEBRATES

31ST ANNUAL EGYPTIAN EVENT AT KENTUCKY HORSE PARK

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Since its inception in 1981, the Egyptian Event has been revered as the world's premier showcase for Egyptian Arabian horses. This year, The Pyramid Society will host the Egyptian Event June 7-11, 2011, with the theme “The Egyptian Arabian Around the World.” An unprecedented line-up of activities are planned throughout the week, as exhibitors and spectators join together to honor the Egyptian Arabian horse.

Held at the “Horse Capital of the World,” the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky, the Egyptian Event offers breeders and owners diverse opportunities to showcase their horses. Yearlings, two-year-olds, three-year-olds and mature horses compete in halter classes and performance classes where internationally-renowned judges select the most representative of the breed.

Each day of the Event begins with an expert-led educational seminar including such topics as “Getting to the Show and Back: From a Vet’s Perspective” and “Mastering Good Horsemanship.” Following the morning seminars, the showcase of performance and halter classes begins in the covered arena. This year’s payouts will exceed $200,000

Visitors can look forward to an “up-close and personal” meeting with leading Egyptian stallions during the Stallion Showcase held Wednesday, June 8, and Saturday, June 11, at 1:00 p.m. Each stallion is first presented individually, and once the stallions have all entered the arena, attendees are invited to convene in the arena to meet them individually. When show classes end on Wednesday, the crowd is invited back to the barns for “barn parties” consisting of afternoon refreshments and presentations of horses from many of the exhibiting farms.

At the Egyptian Breeders’ Challenge Live Stallion Auction, attendees can bid on breedings to some of the world’s most sought-after Straight Egyptian stallions, then stay for the Kentucky barbeque dinner and celebration party. Foals produced from breedings sold will have the opportunity to compete as yearlings in EBC classes. This year’s EBC class payout will exceed $135,000.

The Egyptian Event also features an Art Auction, including art from world-renowned artists such as Ali Al Mimar, Shary Akers, Valerie Hinz and more. Attendees may bid on items from numerous outstanding artists in the Silent Showcase Auction all week long, then participate in the Live Premier Auction held Friday night during the Annual Gala and Fundraiser.

Entitled “Around the World to Venice,” the Carnival Masquerade Gala and Fundraiser, held at the Embassy Suites Hotel, will feature an elegant sit-down dinner, entertainment by the Baroque Trumpeters and Memory Laine Venetian Artists, as well as an auction of exquisite art, followed by dancing. Tickets must be reserved in advance and may be purchased online at http://www.PyramidSociety.org or during the Egyptian Event at The Pyramid Society booth.

The Pyramid Society strives to make the Egyptian Event a week filled with family-friendly activities, including numerous youth activities each day. Youth ages 6-17 may look forward to a fun line-up of activities at this year’s Egyptian Event. A complete description of the Youth Program is available on The Pyramid Society website.

The Pyramid Society is pleased to announce Al Baydaa Stud as the Signature Sponsor of the 2011 Egyptian Event. Al Baydaa is a Lifetime Member of The Pyramid Society and has supported the Egyptian Event for many years. The Pyramid Society is honored by their sponsorship.

About The Pyramid Society:

The Pyramid Society was created in 1969, by a small group of American Arabian horse breeders passionately concerned about preserving and perpetuating the vanishing bloodlines of the Straight Egyptian Arabian horse, the world's pre-eminent, living source of classic, desert Arabian blood. Today, The Pyramid Society and our international membership pursue, with renewed dedication, that original mission: the preservation, perpetuation and promotion of the Straight Egyptian Arabian horse. While not a breed registry, in the 42 years since our founding, The Pyramid Society has become one of the most highly-esteemed Arabian breeders' organizations in the world. More information about our organization and the Egyptian Event is available on The Pyramid Society website at http://www.PyramidSociety.org.
