FRANKFORT, Ky. (November 16, 2004)—Open enrollment for KAPT, Kentucky’s Affordable Prepaid Tuition, ends soon.  Families who want to lock in the price of college tuition today must submit their applications by Monday, December 13.

KAPT makes it easier for Kentucky families to afford a college education for their children or grandchildren by guaranteeing the cost of tomorrow’s tuition at lower prices today.  KAPT was launched in September 2001, and more than 7,000 Kentucky children were enrolled in the first two years.

Families can purchase up to five years of tuition and choose from three tuition plans—Value, Standard, or Premium.  Families can pay in a lump sum; make monthly payments over three, five, or seven years; or stretch payments until the year the student enters college.  KAPT prices are based on this year’s tuition prices; future enrollment prices will increase as tuition costs increase.

“Now is the best time for families to enroll in KAPT,” said Jo Carole Ellis, KAPT Executive Director.  “Families who delay and miss this enrollment period will miss a tremendous opportunity to save for college costs.  The only way to lock in today’s rates is to enroll by December 13.”

For more information, call 1-888-919-KAPT (5278) or visit www.getKAPT.com to complete a KAPT application online.

KAPT is administered by the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority (KHEAA).  KHEAA is the state agency that administers Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarships (KEES), need-based grants, scholarships with service obligations, work-study, savings, and Federal Family Education Loans for higher education.
