LOUISVILLE, Ky. (January 12, 2007) A desire to help students and parents learn how to pay for college led Michael Barlow to join The Student Loan Peoplesm as a customer relations representative in Kentucky and Tennessee.

“The benefits and services offered by The Student Loan People help students pay for college every year,” Barlow said. “I want to do my best to make sure everyone who is attending college or who wants to is aware of what we have to offer.”

What The Student Loan People offer are the lowest-cost federal student loans in Kentucky. BestStart loans are for undergraduate, graduate and professional students, while graduate and professional students may also qualify for BestGrad loans. BestPLUS loans can help parents pay college costs for undergraduate students.

When it comes time to pay back those loans, The Student Loan People have even better deals. Teachers, nurses and public service attorneys in Kentucky may be able to take advantage of Best in Class, Best in Care and Best in Law benefits, which forgive student loan interest and principal for borrowers in certain critical-need fields.

Before joining The Student Loan People, Barlow worked as the financial aid director at Bluegrass Community and Technical College in Lexington.

We are excited to have Michael join The Student Loan People. His experience as a financial aid director and knowledge of our products and services will serve the students, parents and financial aid professionals in Kentucky and Tennessee well, said Ted Franzeim, senior vice president for customer relations for The Student Loan People.

Barlow earned a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in student personnel services, both from Eastern Kentucky University.

“As a financial aid professional for over 16 years, I have had the pleasure of working with The Student Loan People on many occasions and have always found them to be very professional and helpful,” Barlow said. “I am very excited to join this team and work within the financial aid community to make sure students have the resources they need to complete their education.”
