Beau Haddock to Perform at Kentucky Artisan Center
On Saturday, October 20, well-known musician Beau Haddock of Lexington, will perform music from his newest CD "The Windingest River Finds the Sea" from 11:00 – 2:00 pm at the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea.
Raised by his grandparents in a small rural town in Southern Kentucky near Hopkinsville, Beau Haddock grew up listening to gospel music in the kitchen and hearing rhythm and blues on the radio. As a self-taught musician, Beau began playing music by sneaking his sister’s guitar into a closet at night to practice guitar by moonlight. By the age of 12 he was practicing guitar for up to 9 hours a day – the beginning of a lifelong connection to music and the soul. Beau produced his first recording of his own compositions by the age of 22. He then went on to become the original founder and songwriter for the well-known Little River Band which began in Hopkinsville and went on to tour for six years from New York to New Orleans. Haddock has produced two further CD’s and is completing a fourth.
Haddock will be performing songs from his newest release The Windingest River Meets the Sea - a compilation of original songs that offer a rich variety of themes and rhythms that allow Haddock’s superb guitar playing and vocals to shine through. The tracks written by Haddock speak to his personal view and yet strike universal chords. Not unlike the music of Marc Cohn, Haddock’s songs connect everything from love to global awareness in an album to be played over and over.
Reviewer Robert K. Oermann of Nashville’s music industry publication “Music Row” states, “Vocally, he’s (Haddock) somewhere in James Taylor territory with some rootsy J.J. Cole tossed in for Southern spice.” Haddock will be playing a variety of selections from his new CD in his performance at the Kentucky Artisan Center, sending out songs that will feel of the earth, lighten your steps, and possibly even soothe your soul.
