On Saturday, May 16, well-known musician Beau Haddock of Lexington will perform sets of music from 12:00 – 3:00 pm at the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea.

Raised by his grandparents in a small rural town in Southern Kentucky near Hopkinsville, Beau Haddock grew up listening to gospel music in the kitchen and hearing rhythm and blues on the radio. As a self-taught musician, Beau began playing music by sneaking his sister’s guitar into a closet at night to practice guitar by moonlight. By the age of 12 he was practicing guitar for up to 9 hours a day – the beginning of a lifelong connection to music and the soul. Beau produced his first recording of his own compositions by the age of 22. He then went on to become the original founder and songwriter for the well-known Little River Band which began in Hopkinsville and went on to tour for six years from New York to New Orleans. Haddock has produced two further CD’s and is completing a fourth.

Haddock’s release Magnolia has received numerous positive reviews. Reviewer Robert K. Oermann of Nashville’s music industry publication “Music Row” states, “Vocally, he’s (Haddock) somewhere in James Taylor territory with some rootsy J.J. Cole tossed in for Southern spice. This whole album is enchanting.”  Haddock will be playing a variety of selections in his performance at the Kentucky Artisan Center, sending out songs that will feel of the earth, lighten your steps, and possibly even soothe your soul.

Recordings by Beau Haddock are regularly available at the Kentucky Artisan Center, located at 975 Walnut Meadow Road, just off Interstate 75 at exit 77 (Berea). The Center’s exhibits, shopping, and travel information areas are all open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and the café from 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Admission is free.
