Sparkling glass created by Kentucky’s talented artists will be featured through February 20, 2005, at the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea in an exhibition entitled Glass For All Seasons: Works by Kentucky Glass Artisans

The centerpiece of this exhibit is a new work created by Internationally recognized glass artist, Stephen Rolfe Powell of Danville. Unlike earlier vertical works, this colorful new creation by Powell is twisted and literally turned upside down, balancing on two “legs”! Brooke Forrest White Jr. has created a large footed piece, with reference to Greek amphora forms, whose stunning exterior surface is a great contrast to its cool salmon-pink interior. Michelle Weston incorporates gold leaf into her vessels and Steve Scherer portrays animals with both skill and whimsy in his Dolphin Goblet and Cameleon Perfume Bottle.

Fused glass is represented in this exhibition with dramatic and colorful works by Dan Barnes, Stacy Street and Jana Kappeler. Glass artists featured in the exhibition, Glass For All Seasons: Works by Kentucky Glass Artisans, include Stephen Rolfe Powell of Danville, Michelle Weston of Berea, Susan Slabaugh of Louisville, Steve Scherer of Glasgow, Brooke Forrest White Jr. of Louisville, Stacy Street of Richmond, Mark Payton of Louisville, Jana Kappeler of Richmond, Dan Neil Barnes of Lexington, Berni Glass of Louisville, and Kathryn Murphy of Philpot.

Adjacent to the Glass For All Seasons exhibit, is a large display of unusual glass ornaments created by these same glass artists. The ornaments are hung on forged steel trees created by Berea blacksmith Bob Montgomery. These multi-height forged trees are grouped to translate as a striking linear grove sprinkled with sparkling ornaments.

The Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea is located just off Interstate 75 at exit 77 (Berea).
