BEREA, Ky. (November 19, 2004) -- On Saturday, November 27, from 1:00 – 3:00 pm, well-known comedian and performer Carl Hurley will sign his latest release, “Off the Main Road” available in video, CD, cassette and DVD formats. Visitors can meet Carl and have him personalize a copy of this newest release or that of the many others selections that can be regularly found at the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea.

Having grown up near the Rockcastle River in Eastern Kentucky, in the 40’s and 50’s Carl Hurley heard family stories and tales from neighbors and friends from an early age. Living on a three acre farm, his simple upbringing gave him a sense of place and as Hurley recalls, “Humor was never far away.” Hurley is a natural born storyteller and he spins his stories with a simple expressiveness that is refreshing in the world of comedy. Hurley finds humor in all corners, poking fun at his personal foibles and allowing the listener to relate, laugh at themselves, and at the human condition.

The Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea is located just off Interstate 75 at exit 77 (Berea). The Center’s exhibits, shopping, and travel information areas are all open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and the café from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.
