On Saturday, May 28, Candle Bee Farm founder and managing member Heidi Sanner will share information about beekeeping and the process involved in making beeswax candles from 10:30 – 3:30 at the Center.
Heidi, who is a medical technologist and a CPA, has turned an 83 acre farm and beekeeping activity into a thriving beeswax candle enterprise with a national presence. She is a raw food vegetarian, beekeeper and crafter of signature candles using her own molding and press techniques. Heidi says, “Candle Bee™ is an opportunity to pull from all areas of my life, my healthcare and business experience, love of nature and natural lifestyle and create products that are good for people."
Bees are kept naturally at Candle Bee Farm™ ensuring healthy hives and pure bees wax for candles. Candle Bee Farm candles are 100% Beeswax and naturally possess the subtle aroma of honey. Heidi states that hardeners, scents and other waxes are irritating to the respiratory system. Therefore, no additives are used at Candle Bee™. She says, "Even essential oils are not suitable for burning due to the chemical breakdown that occurs and is then inhaled by adults, children and pets.” When beeswax burns, it is consumed and is without soot. Candle Bee Farm™ dinner tapers and plain pillars burn drip-less if kept from draft. 100% Beeswax Candles also burn up to five times longer than other waxes or wax combinations.
As Candle Bee Farm™ has grown, so have its far reaching benefits. The demand for the candles exceeds the wax production of the farm. Therefore, Heidi searches out select beekeepers from whom she obtains beeswax. She insists on pure, domestic sources for her beeswax, which also helps to support natural farming methods and farmers.
