CANCELLED - Richard Kolb – Creator of “Yardbirds” to Sign New Book – “Jenny Makes a Junkyard Friend” at Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea
The book signing scheduled for Saturday, December 13, by Richard Kolb, creator of ‘Yardbirds” sculptures, to sign his newly released book, “Jenny Makes a Junkyard Friend” co-written with writer and illustrator Allison Aboud Holzer, HAS BEEN CANCELLED - at the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea.
This book is a first venture for Kolb, who along with co-author Allison Aboud Holzer, has come up with a story about a dog named Jenny – who in her adventures learns to be creative and re-cycle junk at the same time – a definite parallel to Kolb himself, who for the past 17 years has created over 350 metal sculpture designs of dogs, cats, and critters from recycled metal. The book is participatory for the reader and teaches names of tools and parts and introduces the notion of recycling as the story progresses using photographic images of Yardbird sculptures interspersed with Allison Aboud Holzer’s illustrations.
The new book by Richard Kolb, “Jenny Makes a Junkyard Friend,” as well as a wide variety of Kolb’s ‘Yardbird’ sculptures are regularly available at the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea, located at 975 Walnut Meadow Road, just off Interstate 75 at exit 77 (Berea). The Center’s exhibits, shopping, and travel information areas are all open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and the café from 8 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Admission is free. The Center currently features works by more than 650 artisans from 100 counties across the Commonwealth.
