New commissioner for the Kentucky Commission on Human Rights
LOUISVILLE – Kentucky Commission on Human Rights Chair George Stinson today swore in a new commissioner from the Northern Kentucky region. The Kentucky Commission on Human Rights Board of Commissioners rules on discrimination complaints made in Kentucky and acts with the authority of a court of law.
Mildred “Milly” Hudson Diehl is a resident of Ft. Mitchell in Kenton County. She will represent the state at large. She replaces Robert S. Peters of Lexington who resigned. Diehl will fill the remainder of Peters’ term, which expires on Sept. 12. It is unknown whether she will be reappointed to serve a full term after that time.
Diehl is a community activist. She graduated from the University of Kentucky with a bachelor’s degree in History and Political Science. She has served on the Board of Directors of Kenton County CASA (Court Appointed Special Assistants), the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky Film Commission, the NAACP Northern Kentucky Branch, the Kentucky Democratic Party State Central Executive Committee, and the Kentucky Women’s Network. She served as a Ft. Mitchell Councilwoman from 1994 to 1997 and on the Kentucky Commission on Women under Gov. Martha Layne Collins from 1984 to 1988.
The Kentucky Commission on Human Rights is the state government agency that enforces the Kentucky Civil Rights Act and federal civil rights laws, all of which make discrimination illegal.
